Masai Mara National Reserve
Masai Mara National Reserve
Great Migration. Big Cats. The classic Kenya safari.
Overview
The Masai Mara National Reserve is Kenya’s most celebrated wildlife destination and one of Africa’s finest safari locations. Located in Narok County in southwestern Kenya, the reserve covers approximately 1,510 square kilometers of open savannah, rolling grasslands, riverine forests, and acacia woodlands. It forms the northern extension of Tanzania’s Serengeti ecosystem, creating one of the most spectacular wildlife habitats in the world.
Renowned for its exceptional game viewing year-round, the Masai Mara offers unmatched opportunities to witness Africa’s iconic wildlife in their natural environment.
The Great Wildebeest Migration
The reserve is globally famous for hosting the annual Great Wildebeest Migration — often referred to as the 'Eighth Wonder of the World.'
Each year, between July and October, over 1.5 million wildebeest, accompanied by zebras and gazelles, migrate from the Serengeti into the Masai Mara in search of greener pastures. The dramatic Mara River crossings provide one of the most thrilling wildlife spectacles on earth.
